PG&E launching high school cleantech program

ethiopianreview.com | September 29th, 2009

PG&E Co. and the California Department of Education tomorrow will announce a “green energy” academy pilot program to train high school students in green energy technologies.

An advisory about the announcement said the Academy “was designed to provide energy career education for students who might otherwise not have the opportunity.”

The pilot program will be offered in five high schools, likely including Berkeley High School, where the program was to be unveiled Sept. 29.

PG&E executives were expected to join Jack O’Connell, state superintendent of public instruction, Michael Peevey, president of the California Public Utilities Commission, state Sen. Loni Hancock, Berkeley Mayor Tom Bates and William Huyett, superintendent of Berkeley Unified School District to announce the project.- Bizjournals
