Saudi Arabian medical team arrives in Ethiopia

Addis Ababa , Ethiopia — A Saudi Arabian medical team arrived in Addis Ababa on Wednesday to offer free medical treatment from June 25-July 7, 2009.

The ten-member team would deliver otolaryngology service at Black Lion, St. Paulos and Awelia Hospitals here in the metropolis.

Besides providing medical service, the team would also provide various medicines free of charge. During its stay here the team would also offer relevant training to Ethiopian health professionals.

More than 2,000 people are expected to benefit from the service.

Representative of the Middle East Branch Director with Tigray Development Association (TDA), Yassin Raji’u said TDA has been facilitating ways to enable the medical team provide humanitarian services in Ethiopia.

This demonstrates that the organization’s activities are not only limited to Tigray State, he said.

Team Leader, Muhussein Ali Muhussien told ENA that this is the first time for the team to provide such service in Ethiopia.

The team has previously provided similar service in 38 African countries, he said.
