Ethiopia: AAU to open doctorate program in folklore
Addis Ababa, Ethiopia — The Addis Ababa University (AAU) announced plans to open doctorate Degree program in folklore beginning the coming year.
The 21st Institute of Language Studies annual conference was held on Friday.
Chairman of the Ethiopian Languages and Literature Department with the University, Gezahegn Getachew, said on the occasion that the program would play due role in preserving and passing Ethiopian proverbs, riddles, spells, alphabets, poems, old sayings and other values to the coming generation.
In addition to the discussions held with pertinent bodies, research papers focused on the launching of the new program were presented, he said.
About 44 research papers prepared in Oromifa, Amharic, English and Tigrigna languages were presented on the conference.
