Ethiopian Review

Addis Ababa – The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) through the Management Science for Health (MSH) has granted over 5.1 million birr to local organizations engaged in anti-HIV/AIDS activities.

After signing ceremony of the grant agreement Deputy Chief of Party with HIV/AIDS Care and Support Program (HCSP) Head with MSH, Haile Wubneh, during the grant provision ceremony said that the financial assistance was granted to build the capacity of indigenous organizations working on HIV/AIDS.

The assistance is provided to organizations working in Oromia, Tigray, Amhara, SNNP states and Addis Ababa city.

The Tigray Development Association, HIV-Positive Women Coalition, Hiwot HIV/AIDS Care and Support, and Impact are beneficiaries of the financial assistance.

He also indicated that the organizations were provided the financial assistance in recognition of the results they achieved in benefiting the society from HIV/AIDS prevention activities. He further indicated that encouraging results are being registered through the efforts the government is making to curb the spread of HIV/AIDS pandemic.

USAID Cognizant Technical Officer, Dr. Abeje Zegeye, on his part said that the government of the United States is working to benefit Ethiopian from The President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR).

Expressing their appreciation for the financial assistance, the local organizations reaffirmed that they would exert maximum effort to further scale up their anti-HIV/AIDS activities in the years to come.
