Ethiopia: Arab League to support Egypt in solving Somali crisis

Addis Ababa – The Arab League will support Egyptian effort seeking peace and stability in conflict-hit Somalia, Indopia reported quoting top Arab League official on Wednesday.

Ambassador Samir Hosni, head of the Arab League Arab-African Cooperation Department, said that the pan- Arab body was all prepared to cooperate with Egypt to solve the Somali crisis.

All parties are looking forward to a key Egyptian role that unites conflicting parties in Somalia, Hosni told Egyptian news agency.

Answering a question, the AL official said that the Arab body is already in contact with all Somali parties and it is ready to intensify contacts with the conflicting parties to solve the crisis and achieve stability in the country.

Hosni said that he held talks over the phone with Somali Minister of Foreign Affairs Mohamed Abdulahi Omar, who visited Egypt yesterday before leaving to the United States.

The talks took up the latest developments in Somalia along with international and Arab efforts down the road towards realizing security and stability there, the official said.
