Uganda: Man arrested with cocaine at Entebbe Airport
Uganda — Police at Entebbe Airport on Friday arrested a Ugandan allegedly in possession of one kilograme of cocaine.
Joseph Kagoro Kasanke, 37, was on the verge of boarding a flight destined for the US, the Police said.
Kasanke, who is said to have swallowed the banned narcotic drug, was arrested following a tip-off.
By yesterday, Kasanke, the Police said, had passed out 99 pellets of the cocaine, valued at over sh80m.
“This was a result of joint intelligence of airport security,” the commandant of the Airport Police, Herman Owomugisha, said. Kasanke was arrested at about 8:00am, just an hour before his flight.
The Police said Kasanke was being held on charges of being in possession of narcotic drugs and will appear in court soon.
His arrest brings to three the number of suspected drug traffickers apprehended at the airport since the beginning of the year.
Prior to his arrest, two traffickers were nabbed as they jetted in.
The Police are still disturbed as to where Kasanke got the drug.
“He has not disclosed the source of the drug,” Owomugisha said.
