Kenya: Swine flu cases rise to 7

Nairobi, Kenya — Cases of swine flu in the country have now risen to seven up from six reported last week. This is after a Kenyan woman tested positive for the swine flu a week ago.

Speaking during the official launch of Africa Health Conference 2009, the minister for public health and sanitation Beth Mugo however assured Kenyans that the disease has been contained hence there is no need for panic.

The first case of swine flu confirmed in the country was from a twenty year old medical student who was among 34 visiting students from Britain.

However the government has assured the public that all necessary measures have been put in place and that the disease has been contained even as Kenya registered one more case of the disease.

However even as the government announced that the outbreak has been contained there seems to be a tussle over the supply of vaccines in the country, a situation that may put Kenyan children at risk.
