Ethiopia: Institute provides training in gemstone cutting

Addis Ababa – The Menz Gera Wereda Technical and Vocational Education Training Institute said it is offering training in gemstone cutting and polishing.

Institute Director, Abiy Difabachew, told WIC that the training is being offered using machineries procured with five million birr budget obtained from the government.

He said the training would help the trainees generate income and improve their livelihood.

The Menz Gera woreda is endowed with abundant gemstone resource, he said.

The institute is also offering various trainings and developing broad bed-maker (BBM) so as to assist the efforts being made to enhance agricultural productivity.
