Ethiopia and Japan sign $11 million grant agreement

Addis Ababa – Ethiopia and the government of Japan today signed a grant agreement amounting 11 million USD.

Ahmed Shide, State Minister of Finance and Economic Development (MoFED) and Ambassador of Japan to Ethiopia, Kinichi Komano, signed the grant agreement.

Ahmed on the occasion said that the grant will be utilized for the implementation of the project for rural water supply which makes possible in providing safe drinking water in three zones of Oromia state.

He said water wells and springs in 17 kebeles of West Shoa, East Wellega and Jimma zones will be constructed from 2009-2014.

Ambassador of Japan to Ethiopia, Kinichi Komano, on his part said Japan decided to support water supply scheme of the state with a view to raising safe water service coverage in the state.
