Gun rampage of jilted Jehovah's boyfriend
A Jehovah's Witness has been jailed for at least 25 years after he admitted murdering his ex-girlfriend's father before shooting her and her mother.
Former RAF serviceman Jonathan Cock also tried to kill himself but the bullet went through his mouth and out of his skull.
Despite suffering brain damage, he was able to drive home and send a text to his wounded girlfriend Danielle Hustler.
Jailing Cock for life, Judge Mr Justice Royce told him: 'The carnage you caused that night was chilling, terrible and tragic. Its effects on the Hustler family could not have been more devastating.'
Cock took his bloody revenge after Miss Hustler, 20, ended their relationship.
The 24-year-old blamed her devout Jehovah's Witness parents, Adam and Amanda, who disapproved of their affair, even after he converted to their faith.
In September, he went to their luxury home in Porth Kea, near Truro, armed with a .22 rifle and 15 bullets after warning his former girlfriend she had the choice between 'the easy way and the hard way'.
He gunned down her parents on their doorstep, Truro Crown Court heard.
Mrs Hustler, 40, survived being shot twice in the back. Her daughter was also hit in the arm as she dialled 999.
Afterwards, he texted her to say: 'I can't believe you chose the hard option.'
Cock, from Penzance, admitted murdering businessman Mr Hustler, 41, wounding his wife and possessing a firearm with intent to endanger life.
