An 11-year-old baby sitter used CPR to save a Longview boy who fell into a backyard pool last week.

Imani Love said her 2-year-old cousin slipped out an open door and climbed his way to the edge of the pool while she was baby sitting him Friday. She soon discovered her cousin’s lifeless body floating in the pool.

“We were by the pool messing around with it and I (saw) my baby cousin Kenny inside the pool,” Love said.

Love jumped into action, pulled her cousin out of the water and started CPR.

“I got the phone call and dropped everything,” Yeldell said.

Paramedics rushed to the home after dispatchers received a 911 call from another cousin reporting the near-drowning.

“My, my, my cousin! He’s dead,” the caller said. “He’s dead!”

The boy was rushed to a hospital where doctors determined he was in good health. His parents said they’re grateful for Love’s quick thinking.

“If she didn’t do that, my son would be dead,” Mullen said. “(I’m) shaken still about the whole thing. My mind isn’t right still.”

Love said she never had CPR training but she had seen it performed on television.
