Ethiopians dominate Ukrop’s Monument Avenue 10K

Tilahun Regassa, a 19-year-old Ethiopian; and Amane Gemeda, his 26-year-old contrywoman, captured the men’s and women’s championships in this morning’s 10th running of the Ukrop’s Monument Avenue 10K.
Regassa won the men’s race in 28:21. He finished 13 seconds ahead of runner-up Alene Reta of Ethiopia. Gemeda won the women’s event in 32:37, nearly a minute faster than former Virginia Commonwealth University All-American Maria-Elene Calle.
Anne Parker, a mother of four from Midlothian, won the $2,500 AT&T Dash for Cash. Ker, given a 2.7-mile head start, crossed the finish line in 25:35.
