Gymnastic Skills A Must For Mascot Applicants
PORTLAND, Maine — Portland’s new minor league basketball team, the Maine Red Claws, is looking to fill a couple of key positions on its staff.
Mascot tryouts were held Saturday. The candidates needed to show they were able to perform gymnastics and other antics for the crowd, all while dressed up as a giant lobster named Crusher.
Potential mascots were far outnumbered by the dozens of applicants who turned out for the job of public address announcer. The job pays $50 per game.
The first game is set for the day after Thanksgiving.
