La Cueva coach fired after accusations he hired exotic dancers
ALBUQUERQUE – La Cueva High School’s highly successful baseball coach has been fired after an Albuquerque Public Schools investigation.
The probe, which concluded Wednesday, involved allegations that Stan McKeever hired exotic dancers who came to a Denver hotel room to entertain at least two players, both of whom have since graduated.
School officials looked into a June 2008 incident where McKeever and the players attended tryouts with professional baseball scouts.
McKeever’s lawyer, Mike Danoff, declined comment.
McKeever coached at La Cueva 11 seasons, posting a 260-43 record. His teams won five Class 5A state championships, reached the finals seven times and were recognized as a national high school power.
