Spider startles driver; car crashes into art studio
Nobody injured in accident on 31st Street in N.B.
NEWPORT BEACH – The driver of a silver 2003 Mercedes-Benz C240 sedan crashed through the back door of an art studio around 8:40 a.m. Wednesday.
Nobody was hurt in the crash, according to a neighbor.
A woman was parking in the alley behind the Studio Workshop at 416 31st St. in Newport Beach when the car shot through the French door.
Police said that a spider dropped down in front of her as she was parking, startling her and causing her to hit the gas.
A man was inside the studio when the accident happened. “Luckily, he was standing behind the table and not in front of it,” said Kristen Sweeting, who saw the accident from across the alleyway at Prestige Builders.
