Ethiopia, Finland sign over 11mn Euro development accord

Addis Ababa, Ethiopia — Ethiopia and Finland on Wednesday signed a 11.4 million Euro agreement for rural water development in Ethiopia.

The agreement was signed in Addis Ababa by the visiting Finland Deputy Director General for the Department of Africa and Middle East of the Finnish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Sirpa Maenpaa and the Ethiopian state Minister of Finance and Economic Development, Ahmed Shide.

According to the agreement, the money will be used to enable Benishangul-Gumuz regional state of Ethiopia to upgrade its capacity of planning and managing its rural water supply, sanitation and hygiene program for the achievement of Universal Access Plan Goals.

The region,which is one of Ethiopia’s nine regional states is known for its low water and sanitation coverage.
