ATHENS, AL (WAFF) – A baseball bat beating lands an Athens man in the Limestone County jail on an assault charge.

Police arrested Jason Earl Appleton, 32, on Thursday night. He’s accused of beating a 35-year-old man with a baseball bat, striking him 21 times.

The alleged beating took place on Swan Drive, where the victim had been called to come see his ex-girlfriend.

Appleton is accused of coming out of a closet with a baseball bat when the victim entered the woman’s apartment, then chasing him from the home while repeatedly striking him.

Appleton is charged with Assault 2nd Degree.
