Ethiopia: Students call on PM to strengthen effort to combat climate change

Addis Ababa – Students of the Sandford School called on Prime Minister Meles Zenawi to further strengthen his effort to ensure peace, combat climate change as well as provide medical care and education and thereby create suitable planet for people to live in.

Celebrating “Global Week” under the theme ‘Let’s celebrate our differences’ at the school’s compound today, the school children through the letters they wrote called on Prime Minister Meles to further strengthen his effort to ensure peace, combat climate change as well as provide medical care and education for children. The letters written by the school children were sent to the Prime Minister through Professor Mesfin Abebe, advisor to the Deputy Prime Minister. After receiving the letters Professor Mesfin promised that he will present the letters, adding that the Primer is concerned about children and will consider the letters from the school children.

The two-day event is also being celebrated with various activities in the school including sending a balloon which contains messages of the children to the air to share messages of peace and development with other children of the world, it was learnt.
