Addis Ababa, (ENA) – The 61st independence anniversary of Israel colorfully celebrated at the Theology College here on Friday with various assortments.
Speaking at the event, his Holiness Abune Paulos, Patriarch of Ethiopian Orthodox Church (EOC) said the people-to-people tie between Ethiopia and Israel goes back to 3000 years.
Abune Paulos, who is also President of the World Council of Churches, said EOC’S and Israel’s relation has also goes beyond the mere few decades of current diplomatic relation between the two countries.
The two countries should further scale up their relation in all sectors, he said.
Archbishop Abune Timotheos, Head of the Holy Trinity Theological College, on his part said Ethiopia and Israel share similar faith, tradition and languages.
Presentations on Ethio-Israeli diplomatic, language and cultural relation, religious songs and auction of paintings of His Holiness Abune Theophlos (Ethiopia’s Second Patriarch assigned by EOC Synod) and David Ben Gurion (Israeli’s first Prime Minister) were presented as part of the event.
An exhibition was also opened in the event, which attracted religious fathers, diplomatic corps and invited guests.
