Ethiopia: FEACC receives nearly 1,800 corruption tip offs, complaints
Addis Ababa, (WIC) – The Federal Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (FEACC) said it has looked in to and made decisions on 1,795 corruption tip offs and complaints it received from the public over the past nine months.
In a report it sent to WIC, the commission indicated that it has identified, registered and analyzed 522 of the tipoffs and complaints as they were found laid with in the jurisdiction of the commission. Moreover, the commission has frozen 348,970 square meters of town land in Addis Ababa city and Oromia state, 12 vehicles, and 20 residential houses, 173,000 birr share and over 386,000 birr found in the bank account of corruption suspects. The commission, during the reported period, worked to arrest 380 corruption suspects, while it has succeeded in putting 252 of the corruption suspects under sustody. Currently the commission is engaged in implementing Business Processing Reengineering (BPR) with the objective of efficiently realizing its mission, the report said.
It has also prepared trainings to raise the awareness of employees of government developmental enterprises and correct working procedures that are prone to corrupt practices.
