Once again the Ethiopian Weyane regime is cornered and panicking. Ever since the genocide watch open letter to the UN high commissioner for human rights was made public, the Meles genocidal regime has been in desperate situation. Our sources from Gambella told us that the regime’s machinery is in full gear to extort support from its very victims so it could neutralize the alleged crimes against humanity.
In an attempt to do so, last week Addis Ababa sent a petition to Gambella to be signed by all parliamentarians. The purpose was to get full support to exonorate the Ethiopian Weyane government and its prime minister from the alleged crimes against humanity. In a show of defiance, the parliament gave a cold shoulder to the government. Instead of signing on the petition, they demanded the writer to personally come down to Gambella and meet them. They refused to take part in the cover up of the crimes those were committed against their own people.
Due to the refusal of the parliament members to sign the petition to exonerate the government, the governor was summoned to Addis Ababa for further discussion on how to extract support from the victims. The agreed measure was to set a large demonstration by Anuaks and others in Gambella to show solidarity with the regime. It is hard to extract support from the people who suffered for so long and especially when they knew very well that the regime is standing on its last broken leg. The regime had weaken to the point where it could not buy its way out as usual. Gambellians knew that it’s a matter of time that this dictatorial regime would fade away like fog sooner or later, so why should they be part of the dying regime anyway? The regime had lost its moral authority to rule Gambella and its credibility on the line.
The Addis regime was very irritated by the measures taken by Gambellians. They even did not waste time to resort to their long standing habit of criminalizing those who oppose it. Last Friday, they arrested and brought baseless accusations against ten Anuak young men of having connection with unknown group, that confiscated two assault rifles and one hand gun from two federalset a large demonstration by Anuaks police officers. This smells like the so called coup plot by the Ginbot7 party that ended in an arrest of 35 innocent people. The government has set the full speed of resorting to its old dirty tricks and this time no one is going to be immuned even those who collaborated to kill their own people. Its TPLF’s last resort when it is in trouble, it would give up the lower officers first and watch and see if the trouble would demand other rings of the power. It must be a scary time for those junior officers, because when it comes to genocide charges TPLF would give up them first.
