Injury could end Kenenisa Bekele’s season
THE HAGUE, Netherlands (AP) — World and Olympic 5,000 and 10,000-meter champion Kenenisa Bekele of Ethiopia has a ruptured calf muscle that could end his season.
Bekele’s manager Jos Hermans said Friday that scans revealed the extent of Bekele’s nagging injury. He expects him to be sidelined four to six weeks.
He said the long layoff would make it hard for the Ethiopian to come back this season.
Hermans said he would rather Bekele miss the entire season to ensure he is fully recovered for next year.
