Aigaforum, the website closely associated with Ethiopian intelligence services, now calls Ethiopian Muslims mosquitoes.
In a provocative, quasi-allegorical article titled Untangling Fundamentalism, published July 8, 2012, Aiga compares the recent Ethiopian Muslim protests to “hungry” mosquitoes attacking a spider (the Zenawi government). According to the article, little do the mosquitoes know that they are attacking a powerful spider with a sophisticated spy network that will eventually trap and destroy them.
Written with Western sponsors in mind, the article cleverly attempts to link Ethiopian Muslim protests to Al-Qaeda. It calls Al-Qaeda the “fat mosquito” and Ethiopian Muslims the “hungry mosquito”. It brags that the Ethiopian spy services are cleverer than the CIA and the Mossad. The article claims that Ethiopian intelligence was the first to ensnare Al-Qaeda.
“Who forced Al-Qaeda out of Sudan? Al-Qaeda was forced to flee Sudan because of its failed plot to kill Mubarak in Addis. Who aborted this plot? It was neither the US Navy Seals nor the Israeli commando. It was the Ethiopian security forces. Who provided evidence to the international community by tracing the origin of the plot? It was neither the CIA nor the Mosad- it was the Ethiopian government”
Ethiopia now has a greater espionage and surveillance capability that can easily entrap and destroy the irrational and hungry local mosquitoes, the article claims. “The hungry mosquito will “most likely” be trapped by the strong web today.”
Calling opponents worms and mosquitoes is a prelude to genocide. We appeal to Ethiopian authorities to refrain from hateful language and from any plans to unleash violence against an entire population.
