A Country in the O-Bay, A People in the Muddle

As never seen before, Ethiopia has been engulfed by inexorably destructive situations that may result in a tragic end to our people unless extreme circumspection taken. Among the major problems that encircled our country the following are the major ones:

1.  The Domino Effect of Ethnic Conflict: For the last 21 years TPLF was sowing seeds of dissension among the ethnic groups in Ethiopia through historical revisionism and historical recitation to see each other on suspicion. Besides TPLF was issuing local ethnicized I.D. Cards (Pre-genocide Rwandan type I.D. Card) that would facilitate the profile of people into ethnic line. However, after two decades of TPLF’s hard work, it seems that the ethnic tension has been ripened into fruition. For example a few days ago (July 27, 2012) there was a major conflict between Oromo and Somali ethnic groups that caused for the death of 20 and for the refugees of 33,000 Ethiopians crossing the Kenyan boarder. This is the first incident in our history when such huge number of refugees crossing the boarder of neighbouring country. And the chance of taking a domino effect of such ethnic conflict to the national level is very plausible. Because of the grudge and contradiction among ethnic groups that were fuelled by TPLF for long time, things are at the brink that needs just a spark to ignite the whole country into conflagration. 

2. Politicised Islam and Potential Religion Conflict: After TPLF came to power in Ethiopia, Islam was almost metamorphosed into political Islam which imposed a potential danger on the co-existence of other religion. For example, since 2005 it is very common in Ethiopia to see while churches get burnt by extremists and believers get slaughtered barbarically. Today political Islam has taken deep ground in Ethiopia which mainly sponsored by Middle Eastern Countries’ petro-dollar. In their Quranic School (“Medressa”) they teach fundamentalism, they have built many mosques disproportionate to their number, they distribute weekly papers which mainly have provocative contents etc.  So religion conflict is also one of the spawn of TPLF’s era which has left Ethiopia in to potential danger. 

In conclusion, the continuation of TPLF on power will exacerbate the gravity of the situation in the country and will create a new type of devastative dangers. As long as TPLF is steering the political power, the downward movement of us to the spiral of jeopardy is imminent. Eventually the existence of TPLF into Ethiopian political arena is a powder keg which will result in full scale turmoil.  Then we must redeem our country from the ghastly quagmire of dangers by deposing the miscreant regime of TPLF!!!
