Ethiopia: Pharmaceutical Company to receive int’l GMP certification
Addis Ababa — The Ethiopian pharmaceutical Company Sino-Ethiop Associate (Africa) Plc will receive international Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) certification on 9th May 2009, the Ministry of Capacity Building said.
According to a press statement it sent to ENA on Thursday, Engineering Capacity Building Program (ecbp) with the ministry said the company is to be certified as per Pharmaceutical Inspection Cooperation Schemes (PIC/S) conformity.
The conformity certification ensures that high quality, safe and effective products are being produced at Ethiopian factories, it said.

Hence, ecbp said German experts are providing trainings and consultation to local companies to upgrade their GMP standards and qualify them for certification.
It said ecbp has been working closely with pharmaceutical industry in Ethiopia in orders to make companies more competitive and increase their GMP standards to internationally accepted levels.
