Ethiopia: Transport fares for city taxi mini-bus readjusted

(Addis Ababa) – Following the retail price increment of the ethanol-blended benzene the Federal Transport Authority has announced price readjustments on public transport services in the metropolis as of May 9, 2009.
Accordingly, effective from Saturday, May 9 transport fares will be increased for intra city trips.

The fares for city taxi mini-bus will be 70 cents for up to 2.5 km, 1.35 Birr for up to 7 km, 1.75 Birr for up to 10 km, 1.90 Birr for up to 12 km and 1.40 Birr for up to 15 km.

According to the monthly retail price of petroleum products of Ministry of Trade and Industry the retail price of white gasoline has not increased.

Hence, the Authority said the fares for city taxi Midi-buses and other public transport service will remain same.
