Ethiopia: Over 100 million Birr worth safe water project nearing completion
Dessie Town — Some 98 per cent of the work on construction of safe water project being carried out in Dessie town, Amhara State at a cost of over 100 million Birr has been finalized, town administration mayor, Lulseged Bekele said.
The mayor said digging of deep water well, installation of 20-km water pipelines and construction of water reservoir has so far been carried out by the regional government .
Lulseged was speaking at a two-day discussion on development and good governance organized in the town.
The remaining work includes, among others, installation and upgrading of water pipelines .
The town administration has earlier procured at a cost of over three million Birr water pipes and other necessary materials.
Meanwhile, over eight million Birr is required for installation of lampposts long asphalt roads in the town. The public have so far contributed over three million Birr of the required sum.
