London: After the announcement on Friday 24 April 2009 by TPLF, of an alleged coup plot, which was then downgraded to alleged “assassination of TPLF officials”, TPLF has been conducting evening roundups of individuals which have been targeted by TPLF.

Initially, TPLF has only made public two names out of 40 known detainees. But, it’s mouth piece newspaper ‘The Reporter’ has had the luxury of spoon feeding the eager public by mention a few names at a time.

Out of the initial 40 detainees, Abbay Media has learned of three extra names which do not fit in TPLF’s recent statement, which categorized its victims as either active/retired members of the military or former members of the CUD.

The three Ethiopians who are part of the recent victims are;

1: Engineer Mengistu Abebe
2: Engineer Asmare Wale
3: Health Officer Yeshiwas Mengesha

This individuals are civilians who had never been involved in any political activities, except for having their own individual political stand as most Ethiopians do.

Since TPLF is deliberately concealing their identities, it is feared that they would subject them to mental and physical torture.

Ethiopians and the whole world needs to know that these are not the only people TPLF have rounded up and not disclosed to the public. There are hundreds of Ethiopians from different parts of Ethiopia who are being held and kept in secret.

Earlier in the week, the TPLF regime has been asked by rights group Amnesty International to disclose the identity of the detainees arrested more than 14 days ago.
