Eritrea: Efforts being stepped up to provide reliable potable water supply across nation

Asmara, – Water Resource Department disclosed that it is working diligently to ensure the provision of reliable potable water supply in all parts of the country.

In line with the tasks accomplished during the post-independence period, the provision of potable water supply in rural areas has increased from 7% to 71%, and that of the urban centers from 30% to 90%, according to reports.

Relentless endeavors are also being made to enrich underground water resources, and thereby make due contribution in effective implementation of development programs. To this end, study is undertaken to explore the availability and extent of underground water resources, the reports added.
