Zimbabwe’s battered tourism industry has received a boost in the form of an exemption from import duties on capital goods for the refurbishment of hotels and other amenities.

Chief Executive Officer Karikoga Kaseke Of the Zimbabwe Tourism Authority said the relief from duties will help revive the sector ahead of the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.

Kaseke told reporter Marvellous Mhlanga-Nyahuye of VOA’s Studio 7 for Zimbabwe that the country has no time to lose to upgrade its tourism infrastructure.
