Ethiopia: Standing committee discusses on various agendas
Addis Ababa – Constitution and regional affairs standing committee of the House of Federation here on Wednesday discussed on various agendas.
The House told ENA that the committee discussed and made recommendation on the 2001 E.C. report on the committee’s performance and looked into issues related to Oromia, Somali and South Ethiopia Peoples’ States
The committee heard reports of referenda conducted earlier to determine the jurisdiction of ethnic groups in either of the Oromia and South Ethiopia peoples’ states.
It also presented recommendation on appeals made concerning a decision of the federal council of constitutional inquiry.
The committee investigated amended regulation on delegation of committees on issues related to decision on appeals concerning alleged error in interpretation of the constitution.
The committee looked into the study conducted on an appeal made by the Dube community in Somali Regional State and submitted its recommendations to the council.
The committee discussed on the present situation of Shekash community and presented recommendation to find solution for problems.
It discussed on appeals presented by Kersa Dulela clan leaders in Somali Regional State and presented recommendation to the house.
The inquiry council will look into the recommendations during its 2nd regular meeting slated for this coming Friday.
