Ethiopis: Health facilities go operational in east Hararge zone

Harar – Health facilities built with more than 19 million birr in east Hararge zone have gone operational, zone health office said.

Office head Ali Abdulahi said the 70 health facilities went operational in 18 woredas of the zone. He said seven of the health facilities are health stations while the remaining are health posts.

He said the health facilities will help provided health services to more than 485,000 inhabitants of the zone.

The construction of the health facilities raised health coverage of the zone to more than 88.3 percent from 83 percent last year, he added.

He said the state government provided larger share of the budget spent for the construction of the health facilities, while non-governmental organizations and the public covered the balance.

The health facilities are being furnished with medical equipment and health professionals, he pointed out.

According to Ali two hospitals, 36 health stations, 50 clinics, and 253 health posts have gone operational in east Hararge zone over the past few years.
