Addis Ababa – The African Union Peace and Security Council (AU-PSC) and the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) will hold a joint meeting on Saturday 16 May 2009 here at the AU headquarters.

In a press release it sent to WIC, African Union (AU) said the meeting will exchange views on issues of mutual interest to both the AU PSC and UNSC, as regards the maintenance of Peace and Security in Africa and ways to strengthen their cooperation. The Chair of AU PSC and the president of UNSC will hold a press conference at the end of the meeting.

This is the third annual AU PSC and UNSC joint meeting. The first and the second joint meetings were held in Addis Ababa in 2007 and in New York in 2008 respectively.
