EGLDAM general manger, Abate Gudunfa told WIC that the studies carried out in various states over the past 10 years showed HTPs are drastically declining in a considerable rate.

Female genital mutilation (FGM), early marriage and other forms of HTPs are declining in all states, he said, adding marriage by abduction decreased by more than 50 per cent in Tigray and Afar states.

He said the awareness raising education carried out in all states on the physical and psychological problems of HTPs has contribuited in ringing down HTPs.

He said training was offered for 30 journalists working in all zones of Oromia states to enable them undertake an integrated work to raise awareness of the public on HTPs.

According to Abate, the training is believed to make HTPs prevention works more strong and effective.
