Ethiopia: Researcher urges public to be cautions against cancer risks
Addis Ababa – An Ethiopian researcher at the national institute of health and medical school of the Georgetown University of the United States of America urged public to be vigilant about the causes of cancer disease.
In an interview he held with WIC, Professor Zaki Abdullahi Sherif urged the people to be cautious about the food, drinks and cosmetic products as they can be cancer risks.
The researcher said that breast cancer could genetically transmit from patents to children, while others types of cancer such as cervical cancer transmit through unsafe sex.
Instead of using hazardous products, people should consume organic food, vegetables and fruits and minimize the risk of cancer, Professor Zaki said, and added that people should also visit physicians whenever they find any unusual tissue grown on their body.
According to the researcher, currently breast and cervical cancer are becoming serious health problems in Ethiopia, hence health institutions should educate the public about symptoms of cancer in a bid to minimize the prevalence of the disease.
