Ethiopia: Food security program well underway in Arssi Zone

Arsi, (Assela) – Various development activities are carried out in eight woredas of Arssi zone, Oriomia State at a cost of 10.8 million birr allocated for Food Security Program, Zonal Early Warning and Food Security Office said.

The activities are in the areas of education, health, agriculture and safe water provision.

Construction of 22 health posts, 12 primary schools, seven water units, six vet clinics, 26 farmers’ training institutions and four irrigation projects are some development activities carried out in the stated woredas.

The office further noted that various development activities have also been carried out to ensure food security in the woredas.

More than 30,000 households have contributed labor and material support for implementation of the program .

More than 100,000 residents are benefiting from the development activities, the office said.
