Ethiopia: ETC makes tariff discount on broadband internet, CDMA services
Addis Ababa – The Ethiopia Telecommunication Corporation (ETC) said it has made tariff discount on broadband internet and CDMA 2000 services so as to encourage clients.
Corporation Communication Division Manager, Abdurahim Ahmed told journalists yesterday that the corporation has made 69 to 98 percent discount on client subscription fee for broadband internet services.
He also said 13 to 66 percent discount has been made on the usage charge for internet service, adding that the usage charge ranges from 1,567 birr to 7,923 birr respectively.
Tariff discount has also been made on CDMA services, Abduraim said, and added that the initial fee to fixed telephone service has been reduced to 144.10 birr from 283.30 birr previously.
The tariff for post paid CDMA wireless service will be the same with fixed telephone service, Abdurahim said.
According to the division manager, the discount was made to encourage investors, corporate client, and other partners engaged in development activities in the country.
The discount will also help the corporation achieve its vision, he said, adding that it will also help bring the access to African average.
The discount made on fixed broadband internet service usage charge and subscription fee will not include the price of the apparatus, he noted.
