Ethiopia: Enterprise to distribute 322 mln. br food grains

The Ethiopian Grain Trade Enterprise is undertaking preparations to distribute grains it has purchased from various areas of the country with over 322 million birr over the last nine months. The enterprise is currently selling 750,000 quintals of various food grains.
The enterprise has stored over 517,000 quintals of food grains purchased from local markets during the last production season so as to protect shortage of food grains in the coming few months. The enterprise has so far purchased and stored 38,000 quintals of soybean, 15,000 quintals of bean, 32,000 quintals of niger seed and 85,000 quintals sesame from local markets, while it exported 85,000 quintals of food grains to the foreign market. There are encouraging results are being registered in exporting Niger seed to the Chinese market.
