Ethiopia: State constructing seven rural roads

Mekelle – The Tigray state rural roads development authority said constructions of seven rural roads is being carried out in the state.

Authority planning inspection and supervision head, Mulugeta Hailu told WIC that four new and three exiting rural road projects are being executed with 36 million birr budget.

He said the new rural road project covers the areas from Intocho-Nebelet, Dansha-Gobe, Migulat Azebana, Endabaguna-Kusheba.

He also said the construction of the new roads will be finalized in the coming three years.

Of the 164 kms rural road projects being carried out in state, construction of the 30 kms Shiraro-Dedebit road has been completed, he said, while work on the construction of Kormo-Maima’don and Alamata-Merewa rural roads will be finalize in the coming year.

Over half of the 63 kms road due to be constructed this budget year have already been finalized, he noted.

The authority is undertaking regular and casual maintenance on 1,231 kms rural roads, it was learnt.
