Entrepreneurs in Amhara State received licenses to launch 1,344 investment projects in different parts of the region with an aggregate capital of 11.9 billion Birr during the last nine months, the state’s investment promotion section said.
It said the number of entrepreneurs licensed to invest in the region has increased by 40 percent this year when compared with the number of investors who received licenses during the previous year of the same period.
Section head, Aynalem Belete told ENA on Wednesday the licensed investment projects focus mainly on agriculture, manufacturing industry, construction, catering and tourism, and other social service sectors.
The participation of foreign entrepreneurs in the state has been steadily from time to time, he said, foreign investors have become partners in the 118 of the newly-licensed investment projects.
According to the head, the newly-licensed investment projects will create job opportunities to more than 300,000 people when the projects go fully operational.
The head attributed the success mainly to the concerted efforts of pertinent bodies toward promoting trade and investment in the region and provision of swift and efficient services to entrepreneurs who are willing to invest in the state.
Entrepreneurs in Amhara State were licensed to launch more than 4,500 investment projects in different parts of the region with a combined capital of 55.2 billion Birr since the last seven years.
All of the licensed investment projects, which are found in different stages of development at present, are believed to create jobs for more than a million persons.
