Ethiopia: Ethiopia , Japan sign 6.1 million USD grant agreement

Addis Ababa – The governments of Ethiopia and Japan here on Thursday signed grant agreement amounting to 6.1 million USD.

The purpose of the grant is to contribute to the implementation of the program for the construction of one secondary and nine primary schools in Addis Ababa.

State Minister of the Ministry of Finance and Economic Development, Ahmed Shide and Ambassador of Japan to Ethiopia, Kinichi Komano signed the agreement.

Ahmed on the occasion said Japan is not only a long standing development partner to Ethiopia it also stands among the forefront partners as far as the magnitude of resources and quality of the assistance is concerned.

The government and the people of Ethiopia highly value the contribution of the Japanese government and wish the partnership relationship to be further strengthened to a mutually benefit both sides.

He said the assistance extended to the education sector, which is fundamental to develop human resource capital of the country, is of great importance.

Ambassador Komano on his part said Japan will further continue its support to the development of the education sector.
