Assela – Some 189 investors with over 269 million Birr combined capital have received licenses during the past nine months to engage in various investment activities in Arssi Zone, Oromia State, Zonal Investment Office said.

Office head, Dessalegn Dibaba told ENA that the investors received the licenses to engage in agriculture, industry, social services, hotel and tourism sectors, among others.

Dessalegn said 29 of the investors have already launched their projects on 1,317 hectares of land during the reported period.

The remaining investors are undertaking preparations to launch their projects.

He said 15 of the investors are foreigners.

Nearly 20, 000 citizens are expected to get access to jobs when all the projects fully go operational, he said.

The head said some 385 investors are engaged in various investment activities with a combined capital of over 2.3 billion birr. Over 85,000 people got access to jobs in the last few years.
