Ethiopia: CETU says building capacity of female workers

Addis Ababa – The Confederation of Ethiopian Trade Unions (CETU) said that it is working hard to build the capacity of female workers and bring them to the decision making position.

Opening a three day training workshop on conflict resolution, CETU’s gender policy and social dialogue here today, Secretary General of the confederation, Asnake Demese said that the CETU is working hard to help female worker become assertive and decision makers in work their work places.

According to the Secretary General, CETU is building the capacity of female workers by organizing women’s committee in organizations where basic labor associations are functioning.

The current training would have an important role in involving women in conflict resolution activities at work places.

Women section head with CETU, Rahel Ayele also said that the section is engaged in various capacity building activities meant to empower women.

The training workshop is attended by representatives of women committees of labor unions from all federations as well as male workers drawn from various organizations.
