Ethiopia: Leaders continue to send congratulatory message in connection with May 28

Addis Ababa – President Girma Woldegiorgis received congratulatory message from various countries of the world in connection with the celebration of the Dawnfall of Derge Regime.

Ethiopia is about to celebrate the 18th anniversary of the overthrow of the dictatorial regime on May, 28.

In its message passed to President Girma , King Albert II of the Belgians expressed the growing bilateral relations between Ethiopia and Belgium and said that his country wants to further enhance existing relations.

Mexican President Felipe Calderon also expressed his gratitude to President Girma and Prime Minister Meles Zenawi. Mexico wants to further bolster bilateral ties with Ethiopia, he said.

Prime Minister of Greece, Kostas Karamanlis also sent a congratulatory message to Prime Minister Meles Zenawi. Similarly foreign affairs minister of Greece Dora Bakoyannis sent his gratitude to his counterpart, Ethiopian foreign affairs minister Seyoum Mesfin.

In a message sent to President Girma Woldegiorgis, Turkish President Abdullah Gül expressed belief that the bilateral relations between Turkey and Ethiopia will ensure the benefits of the two peoples as the relations are based on mutual interest and understandings.

In related news, Libyan president Muammar al-Gaddafi expressed his wish to the people and government of Ethiopia in a message sent to President Girma and Prime Minister Meles.

Likewise, Libya’s foreign affairs and international relations secretary, Mousa Kusa sent his congratulatory message to foreign minister Seyoum Mesfin.
