Ethiopia: Saudi Arabia lifts suspension of Ethiopian meat

Addis Ababa – The ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development said Saudi Arabia has lifted suspension it has imposed on Ethiopian meat.

The ministry told ENA on Monday that the temporary ban was lifted following technical and diplomatic efforts between the Ethiopian government and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

According to the ministry, meat is one of the many livestock produces Ethiopia has been exporting to Saudi Arabia and other 12 countries of the world. United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia are major importers of Ethiopian meat.

The Saudi Arabian government believed that the suspension was inappropriate and agreed to resume imports of Ethiopian meat, according to the ministry.

The ministry said that the measure would help to further strengthen trade ties and good relations between the two countries.
