Ethiopia: Army members vow to safeguard constitution

Mekelle – Members of the north Command of the national defense force said they would play active role in the endeavors of ensuring reliable peace and development in the country through safeguarding the May 28 victory.

Members of the 11th and 21st divisions made the above remark at the end of the 10 day conference held on the constitution, renaissance of the country and duties and responsibilities of the army.

Commander of the 11th division, Colonel Gebreyesus said army members of the division are fit to thwart anti-peace forces striving to violate the constitution realized under the May 28 victory.

He said the army members have acquired the necessary knowledge that helps them contribute shares in the ongoing democratization process.

Eastern Tigray zone administrator, Nega Berhe on his part said the contribution of the army is vital for the successive economic growth registered over the past years.

Similarly, Commander of the 12th division, Colonel Hagos Gebre said that members of the division are ready to foil the ill acts of anti peace force.
