Ethiopia: EPRDF striving to increase participation, ensure benefits of youth, women: Meles
Addis Ababa – Chairman of the Ethiopian Peoples’ Revolutionary Democratic Front (EPRDF), Meles Zenawi said EPRDF has been striving to increase participation and ensure benefits of youth and women.
National EPRDF Youth and Women’s Leagues established here on Wednesday.
Meles said EPRDF became victorious during the armed struggle as it embraced youth and women.
He said the party has been working to increase participation and ensure benefit of youth and women.
Establishment of the leagues would significantlly contribute to enhance the remarkable result so far registered.
The leagues are additional forums for youth and women to build their capacities, Meles said.
EPRDF council office head, Muktar Kedir on his part said EPRDF member youth and women have played significant role in the struggle to speed up development and maintain good governance in the country.
Representative of Youth League of Sudanese Congress, who took part in the founding conference of the leagues, conveyed congratulatory message. The establishment of the leagues will further strengthen cooperation among youth of the two countries.
The leagues approved their programs for the coming two years after they held separate discussions and exchanged views same day. Similarly, discussion was also held on draft statute of the leagues.
The founding conference will continue on Thursday, according to the Ethiopian Radio and Television Agency.
