Ethiopia: Authority constructs, maintains 714 km of roads in resettlement areas

Dessie – The Amhara state rural roads authority announced that it has finalized the construction and maintenance of 714 kilometers of road so as to make resettlement areas in the state favorable for living.

Authority deputy manager, Abdulkerim Mohammed told WIC that the authority has carried out the construction and maintenance activities around resettlement sites in Metema, Quara, Tachi-Armachio, Western-Armachio and Bekedele woredas of the state.

Abdulkerim indicated that the roads were constructed and maintained using over 3.7 million birr allocated by the federal food security agency and the machineries of the state rural roads authority.

He also indicated that the construction of roads would play an important role in developing the resettlement site to create strong market linkage in the areas.

The Deputy Manager also pointed out that the development of the roads would contribute a lot in addressing the food security problem in the resettlement areas.
