Ethiopia: Investors engage in fishery with 105 mln birr capital

Bahir Dar – Four investors, with a combined capital of 105 million birr have been engaged in fishery in Amhara state, state agriculture and rural development bureau said.

Bureau public relations department head, Shiferaw Tesfaye said that studies have confirmed that the state has the capacity of producing over 255,000 quintals of fish from fresh water resources in the state. Owing to the efforts made to promote the potential in the sector, four investors who registered over 105 million birr capital have got engaged in fishery. The investors have the capacity to produce, process and supply up to 150,000 quintals of fish to the foreign market annually, the head said.

More than 15,000 households are currently making life on fishery development, according to the head.
