Ethiopia: Ethiopian provides sufficient cargo transportation service
Addis Ababa – Ethiopian Airlines said it has been providing sufficient cargo transportation service to companies exporting flowers, vegetables and fruits.
Cargo marketing director, Gebremichael Biwota said Ethiopian supplies various vegetables and fruits to Europe seven times a week.
Gebremichael said Ethiopian has five cargo aircraft, which have capacity to transport 540 tons cargo at a time.
He said Ethiopian has sufficient cargo aircraft to give service to flower, fruit and vegetable exporters .
Cargo Sales Manager of Liege Airport of Belgium, Eric Gysen briefed Ethiopian flower growers, exporters , stakeholders and logistic service providers on the overall process and procedure at Liege Airport.
The manager said the airport is free of traffic congestion and it is open for 24 hour.
The airport has been providing efficient and low cost service to flower and vegetable suppliers
Brussels airport is closed after 11:00PM for safety of residents of the city. Accordingly many airliners are obliged to harmonize their programs in accordance with the time set. This causes additional cost to Airliners and businesspeople .
General Manager of Ethio Horti Share Company, Tariku Zemedkun on his part said significant growth is registered in the amount of export products as the company uses Liege Airport, which gives service to cargo aircraft alone.
Liege Airport is convinient to exporters as it provides efficient services and it is free of traffic congestion .
Ethiopian Airlines established its cargo hub in Liege Airport in June 2008 and has been providing dedicated services ensuring the reliable delivery of cargo to various destinations in Europe.
Ethiopian Airlines is the only African Airline with dedicated cargo services to various parts of the world with a very wide network in Africa through its hub in Addis Ababa, Dubai, Liege and Hong Kong.
Ethiopian uses Brussels airport for passenger flight only.
